NOC Administrator

Job Summary

  • The Network Administrator is responsible for monitoring all network connections, and telco lines (LAN and WAN) uptime and network availability. He is likewise responsible in maintaining and managing the enterprise company’s network to ensure it operates smoothly, securely, and efficiently with high-availability or redundancy connections. He should consistently monitor traffic usage, remediate security findings and size up network/bandwidth capacity. In addition to the core tasks, the Network Administrator or Engineer also manages new connectivity requirements and run projects on network upgrades or expansions. He/she works closely with the IT Solutions Delivery, System and Database Teams, Application Operations, End-User computing, and Service Desk teams in the fulfillment of business requirements directed by the process owners / IT Project Managers / IT Operations Manager / IT Solutions Delivery AVPs / IT Operations AVP / CIO

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install and Configure Network Equipment- Install and configure network hardware as per established standards and business requirements as defined by process owners through the IT Services Desk, ensuring the integration will be smooth and seamless within company systems.
  • Network Monitoring and Integrity- Ensure that all networks are performing at peak levels with regard to integrity, and have high connectivity and availability, detecting any probable issues before these impact operation.
  • SD-WAN Management- Ensure proper management, monitoring, and maintenance of the established SD-WAN infrastructure by achieving optimal performance, security, and scalability to meet all business requirements.
  • Firewall Management- Administration and maintenance of internal and external firewalls and ensuring that there is appropriate security in place around threats for the network.
  • Analysis and Optimization of Logs/Performance- Analyze equipment logs of the network device and identify anomalies, diagnose issues, and find a solution where performance can be better improved.
  • Cross-team Coordination- Collaboration with IT teams and third-party providers to expedite the resolution of problems associated with data center or network, with minimal impact on business operations.
  • Second-Level Support- Second-level support shall be provided for all data center and network-related issues as articulated in the Service Desk – IT Services, meeting or exceeding SLAs in response time.
  • Ticket Management and Updates- All ticketed network and data center issues should be updated within the agreed upon operational timetable with clear communication to stakeholders about the progress being made.
  • Firmware and Software Updates- All the network equipment should be updated regularly with new firmware and patches to upgrade the performance, security, and functionality of the corporate network.
  • Network Equipment Maintenance- This involves the regular updating and maintenance of network hardware, such as routers, switches, and firewalls. It ensures that the network runs smoothly. It includes tasks like firmware upgrades, troubleshooting, and security patches that ensure the network remains secure and reliable. It helps avoid problems and increases the life span of equipment.
  • SLA Compliance- All network equipment and infrastructure are maintained to at least the agreed-upon levels of the SLA. This ensures business continuity in case of any failure.
  • Documentation Management- All operational, configuration, and other technical documentation maintained to ensure clear and accurate records for troubleshooting and future upgrades..

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer or Communication Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Project Management Expertise: Proficient in managing network-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
  • Network Design and Infrastructure: Strong knowledge of network architecture and design principles, with hands-on experience in building and optimizing network infrastructures.
  • Networking Skills: Advanced understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies to design, troubleshoot, and optimize network systems.
  • Firewall Administration: Expertise in managing and configuring firewall systems to protect the network from external and internal threats, ensuring secure connectivity.
  • SD-WAN/WAN/LAN/VPN Management: Skilled in managing SD-WAN, WAN, LAN, and VPN networks, optimizing connectivity, and ensuring secure remote access and communication.
  • Network and Datacenter Security: Deep knowledge of network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and secure protocols, to protect both network and data center operations.
  • Effective Communication: Strong communication skills to interact with technical teams, stakeholders, and clients, ensuring clear and timely information exchange.
  • Router and Switch Management: Proficient in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting routers and switches to ensure efficient and reliable network performance.
  • Cloud Computing: Familiar with cloud computing platforms and services, including setup, management, and integration with on-premise infrastructure.
  • Technical Support: Strong ability to provide technical support, troubleshooting network and infrastructure issues, and ensuring minimal downtime for users.
